Thoughts

Human being is an intelligent living thing. The amazing creation of God.
It is unavoidable that you will face people of different characteristics, whether he/she goes well with you or don't.
I find some people can be very friendly and able to get along well with you but after 24hours, he/she turns a 180 degree. He/she became immoral and saddened.
I think everyone has an evil and good side, it's you that God test how well you balance it.
Why does school teach moral, that honesty is the best policy?
Do you feel good being honest? Or do you never feel bad of telling a lie? You decide.
Sometimes, I do feel being honest makes my day sunny when there might be many people choose not to. He/she might thinks that when everyone is lying, why not you?
I'm not trying to say 'I'm perfect' and never did a bad thing before, but knowing how to wake up from bad dreams is essential for life to move on.
This is a matter of personality. You, God and Devil will know what you do. Be kind to the nature.

How's your day today?
Mine is just as great as any other day.
I think I am an optimistic person but I can be sensitive.
Again, people is never lack of emotions. You can either be very happy today or sad after a couple of hours. It depends on what's going on.
People likes to see happy faces, none like the antonyms.
'Sigh' will not let your worries go away.
'If you worry, you will die; you don't worry, you will also die. So why worry?'
Complains will not do any good either.
Does showing people faces make your day better?
Sometimes, stop being self-centered is good, lend someone a good listen ear.
If things really went wrong and bad, a good cry will let every thing goes.
I love thinking on the bright side but not being paranoid.
Many countries in the world is seasonal, with winter, spring, summer and autumn.
Similiarly, human can also be temperate. What's yours?

...
...
...

I think, religion helps people to be good at heart, but being religious by mouth is not working, too.
Well, does zodiac sign and horoscopes have anything to do with human character? I don't know, just maybe. What do you think?

Escape to the Woods

Date: 21st February 2009
Time: 12.15pm (approximate)
Venue: The Lighthouse

Alone, I went to the Lighthouse. It was my second visit in 2 months. This time, I went all because of an exhibition by an exciting young British Textile Designer, who graduated from Royal College of Art. She is Donna Wilson. Her theme is 'Escape to the Woods'.

The Lighthouse is a place for me to relax, strolling around while enjoying modern arts. I love the place. It also allows me to see rooftop view of Glasgow city centre.

I like the work of Donna Wilson, which her exhibition will ends in 1st of March. I quickly pick a Saturday for free entrance to the Lighthouse. She created a lot of creature with different character that is interesting. One of my favourite is:
Rill
Very lively, never stops running around, likes caterpillars and worms.

There are others like:

What do you think? They are cool and cute right? I love them. These designer stuff are utterly expensive. One doll cost more than 30quid! Her exhibition is worth a visit.

Since I had spare my Saturday lunch to go to the Lighthouse, will not just go to one exhibition, but also go to one of my favourite permanent gallery with the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

His famous 'chair'

Here are some other captions, enjoy!

...... eat CHOCOLATE ......

Being a chocolate lover, I know chocolate is fattening and addictive. I can't stop hunting for new chocolates in the market, that they make me absolutely tempted to buy.

I think 9 out of 10 people loves to eat chocolate, and the 10th one usually come out with an excuse for not eating it. Many said that it's fattening to eat chocolate (I agree) but here are some (GOOD) facts for you, so that you will eat chocolate with more pleasure and less guilt:

  1. Chocolate contains high levels of phenol, which helps to fight heart disease.
  2. When eating chocolate, our brain will produce serotonin, which is a chemical that make us 'feel good'
  3. Epicatechin, gallic acid, and flavonoids are the 3 chemicals significantly found in dark chocolate, which thought to protect hearts and reduce blood pressure. BUT, it's still high in sugar and fat, eat a bit of chocolate everyday and reduce other calories found in your food, or do more exercise!
  4. Chocolate does not cause ance (pimples). Pure chocolate contains antioxidants, which actually aid in producing better skin. Some experts believe milk mixed with chocolate is actually culprit. LOL~
  5. Research shows evidence that flavonol-rich cocoa stimulates neurovascular activity, enhancing memories and alertness.
  6. An entire once of chocolate contains no more caffeine than a cup of decaffeinated coffee. {Imagine how much caffeine there is in a cup of coffee! Dont drink more than 2 cups per day, it's not good for your health}
  7. Chocolate triggers the release of endorphins, which reduce the body's sensitivity to pain.
  8. Medical complains that have been treated with chocolate include anaemia, poor appetite, mental fatigue, tuberculosis, fever, gout, kidney stones, reduced longevity, and poor sexual appetite. (WOW~~)
  9. A study at Cornell University found hot cocoa has nearly twice the antioxidants of red wine and three times the amount found in green tea.
So now, what do you thick about chocolates? Are you going to eat them? Well. I think whatever you eat, either is chocolate or any other food, eat them in moderation. Balanced diet is still the most important. If you dont eat chocolate, you will miss the pleasure in it!

Life is short, eat CHOCOLATE~

Stop violating women..

I am a big fan of Rihanna, since her hit single 'Unfaithful' and 'Umbrella'... When the song 'Umbrella' was first announced, you can hear many places, either in the malls or radio, playing 'ella ella eh eh eh,...' It was so popular that it rhyme in many people's mouth.

Just heard from friend that there's something kinda serious happen to Rihanna on 8th February 2009, the day before Grammy Award. She was reportedly assaulted by her boyfriend (ex), Chris Brown in a Lamboghini after a pre-grammy party. Rihanna caught Chris flirting with another girl and question it to him. I think as a girlfriend, Rihanna's jealousy is right but why on earth Chris would be so angry and finally hit her on her face. Rihanna reportedly get bloody nose, a swollen lip and facial bruising. She is now recovering and resting in her hometown, Barbados.

Chris Brown is charged with USD$50,0000 and also need to attend a court case in March. He had shown a really bad example to the society for violating women. He should go to jail and should never appear in the public.

When I first know Rihanna is dating Chris Brown, I was thinking Rihanna has all the good quality and deserves to be together with someone better, much better than Chris Brown. My judgement was right, Chris Brown is just humiliating. The song 'Take a Bow' finally slips into real life for Rihanna. Dedicated to Chris Brown.

After that incidence, Rihanna's concert in Malaysia has put on hold, either to cancel it or postpone it, we dont know yet. Hope it's postponed. Rihanna's fan in Malaysia would really love to see her in person. I am one of them but I am now in UK so dont have the opportunity to watch her concert. Hope she comes to Glasgow again, soon!

To conclude, Rihanna deserves a better man. We should all hand-in-hand to protect all the women on Earth against violence.

Sorry.. I'm fussy!

Still remembering the first time I sat on a plane. It was my first flight which I took when I was a kid. Me and my parents also my grandma, going to Kuala Lumpur for sight-seeing and holiday. It was a Malaysian Airline flight.

I can't really recall how I feel. Not sure whether I was thrilled, excited, happy or nervous. I guess, I was befuddled by all the emotions.

Apparently, I have had countless flight, flying here and there. Of course, with the amazing creation by Wright Brothers, the gigantic bus has made a lot of things possible, bringing people together in a short period of time. We normally use a plane, not a boat sailing in the sea for many days and night.

Boeing and Airbus are the 2 main company of plane (like Benz & BMW), currently in big operation. Concorde is not in service anymore. I was wondering does it feels like when sitting in this plane. I don't have the chance...

Just few years ago, Airbus announced they designed a new and largest passenger plane, bigger than Boeing-747, it's the Airbus A380. The 'fully-double-decker' plane is just gigantic. As I've said in my previous blog(click here), I myself enjoy my flight from London to Singapore using A380, which first land in London Heathrow Airport on 18th March 2008 (can't believe I still remember this!). It was upper deck that I sat on with economy class (of course!!!), which normally upper deck is for Business Class in B-747. Singapore Airline is the World's Number One Airline, with 5-star Ranking, together with Malaysia Airline, Cathay Pacific, Asiana Airline and Qatar Air.

Singapore Airline being the primary airline to use A380. I am concern if they fly to London on long haul flight back to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.

Second Airline which starts to use A380 is Emirates (UAE Airline). They fly with A380 from Dubai to US and to London recently.

Just recently, Qantas Airways (Australian Airline, world oldest airline in English speaking world.) received their order of A380. They are flying to London and back to Singapore as well, not on daily flight like Singapore Airline but on certain dates! I am happy! Yeah!

I am looking forward to my next flight with Qantas A380. I purposely pick the flight so that I can sit in this big bus! See, told you I am being picky! Many said there isnt any difference in sitting in a Boeing-777, Boeing-747, Airbus-330 or Airbus-380. HERE, I tell you, I am very demanding for an impeccable inflight-service and needs a nice, comfy and pleasant long-haul flight!

44668800 seconds!

I can't believe that I've came to UK for 517 days, since I first came in 2007!
Unbelievable.

I think it's time for me to evaluate myself, whether I've grown stronger, tougher, more independent and wiser? How's my walk with God?

After these 1 year 4 months and 29 days, I think I've learn something through life. I think I:
- am more independent
- speaks better English (maybe?)
- adapted to the Western society
- know people of many country
- am more social
- have more exposure to different culture
- seen different places
- learns how to cook
- can do my own laundry
- am able to face all 'ups and downs' myself
- and the list goes on....

Many includes things that I cannot get in Malaysia. I am growing up and will keep going. I shall keep my strong faith with God. I still have at least another 850 days before I graduate. I am half way through now!! Keep on going~

Did you know?

[This is not an advert but something I know from my previous visit to Cadbury World, Birmingham]

  1. Total weight of Cadbury Dairy Milk produced per year is equivalent to 51641 Minis.
  2. Cadbury Dairy Milk sold each year is enough to cover 92 Premier and Nationwide League football pitches, more than 5 times.
  3. Chocolate melts at 34'C
  4. Cadbury uses over 23500 miles of foil to wrap a year's supply of Easter Eggs.
  5. In 1915, Cadbury starts to become popular with it's trademark colour - Purple.
  6. Over 1,300,000,000 Cadbury Roses chocolate sold in UK each year. {WOW!!}
  7. Cadbury uses enough cocoa to fill London's Albert Hall more than 5 times!
  8. If these Creme Eggs were stacked one end to another, the production from Cadbury can stretch from Birmingham, UK to Australia, about 12,000 miles.
  9. Cadbury make one third of all chocolate in UK. (That's a big proportion)
  10. Over 100 million Flake 99s sold each year. [FYI: Flakes used to put on top of ice cream or hot chocolate or u can just eat them!]
To conclude, Cadbury earns a lot! Their chocolate might not be the best I had but they have a few of my favourites!!

Still. It's there.

White defines purity. White is clean. And, snow is white.

I woke up pretty early on the morning on 9th February 2009, by the awakening sound of my alarm. As usual, I will open up my curtain to see the view outside my window. It is still white. I LOVE IT.

In fact, I made a plan last night, hoping to go to Kelvingrove Park this morning for some captions of the white scene. I was lazy so I didn't. I only manage to walk around my halls, to take some pictures.

It start snowing at 3pm on 8th February, on a Sunday afternoon. Never thought it would be this great with even thicker snow. Me and my friends venture to the city centre, for some different experience.

As for the council of UK, Britain is running out of grit and salt to counteract the weather conditions, so that it won't be treacherous for drivers and motorists, making everything seems to be normal. Now, they do use table salt to encounter all these unexpected weather conditions.

My passion for snow continues, but I dislike when it melts. It will be dirty and slippery which is dangerous for walkers and drivers. Snowball fight, snowman, and snow angel, come true.

Happy 'Chap Goh Mei'

This post is going to be in Chinese because it's about a Chinese festival~ Feels like expressing everything in Mandarin! Enjoy~

New resolution~

Beginning this semester, I get Tuesdays off! YAY~~~

So, I decided that I should do something different this time,by not having a long lie in my room and watching dramas and variety show. I need to be eloquent in what I am going to do.

When I was down in London, and been using London Underground all the time. I used to see English or maybe Londoner holding a book in their hand, reading it in the tube. I was pretty impressed with that, even my dad said so. I went to Paris last summer and French dont seems to read as frequent as British.

Tracing back with time, memories told me I love to read novels, particularly English (not Chinese, never! - except Bible) when I was a teenager. Expecially in my 13 to 15 years old. It all slows down unintentionally. It is a good habit to read, widen knowledge and increase my language capability.

So...

I decide to read at least an article or a few pages in Reader's Digest everyday. I've made my Tuesdays a READING DAY. Read about something outside uni's stuff. I also got myself a copy of 'Chicken Soup for the Chocolate Lover's Soul'. I will read them and will try to share it here in my blog.

It would be marvel if i can read a book in my room, sipping tea or hot chocolate while it is snowing outside my window~ Wa....

YOU all out there should keep asking me whether I've read anything everyday. Keep me on the track!

Tuesday 3 February 2009

2nd February 2009. A date to remember..

I've been very concern about weather ever since I came to UK. The unpredictable weather is sometimes pathetic, especially when it comes to heavy rain & strong wind.

On 1st February, I read on Yahoo! news (click here to read more), it says this February is going to be the coldest since 13 years!! I was thinking, how cold it's going to be in Glasgow?

Few weeks ago, also from the Yahoo! news (click here to read more), British MET forecasted there's going to be heavy snow across UK, but I never really trust it as Glasgow is much damp and humid so snow is unlikely to clot.

On the morning of 2nd February 2009, I woke up in the morning, always hope to see Glasgow blanket with snow and YES, Glasgow is white!!!! I am so happy! It brightens up my day as if it's a sunny day!

Glasgow has ever been this white ever since i'm here but snow melted by noon. This time.. it last until evening. It has been snowing heavily in the morning, starting around 9am for at least 30 mintutes. Snowing comes and go very often and loves to see the feeling of snow sprinkles. There was a time when it snows like whirlwind, very heavily and can really believe what I see. I do not have class in the morning so i am enjoying breakfast, seeing snow out of my window. So happy!

Coincidencely before my 1pm class, my friend WaiLoong MSNed me if wanna go out hav a shot of snow.. That's definitely a "YES". I love snow. So we went for a quick caption before i head to uni.

See the happy faces. I was really excited!

During lectures, (honestly) I was a wee bit not focusing, kept looking out of the window, see if it continues to snow. And yes, it did snow on and off! Was happy n looking forward for class to finish. On my way back to halls, I saw people playing snowballs, I too, want to play!

At around 5-ish to 6, I asked my friend to come out again, fanatically for snowball fight and snowman-making! WHEEE~~~ Now let the picture speaks:

My First gigantic snowball. made for fun or for snowman.. You would not b able to lift it up as high to throw it at anyone.. *Berat tau?!* LOL...

Need support to hold it up

Lying on a blanket of snow.. It's fluffy.. Should have tried to make snow-angel. Feeling of lying on bed and on snow is different. Now, credits to my Nike ACG Weatherproof Jacket, My upper body is neither wet nor cold. BUT. A big BUT here, my butt is cold n wet, so as my legs, jeans not waterproof la~ HAHA.. I dont care. It's a special opportunity to try this. What is it to loose?

Teng teng teng~~ Here comes Snow fight!

Getting Ready

Are u with me?

Boom! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
If it's a bigger snowball, can b a bit of pain but it's ok.. Worth it! FUN!!!

Are we making gigantic 'Ice Kacang'? We dont have enough syrup. Snow is really fluffy.. You can see a wee bit of grass appearing as many bits of snow were scrappeled away by us for snow fight and for fun!

Tadaaa!! Our first snowman!! Can u help me to give it a name?

Here's us, with the first snowman~~ *Frosty the Snowman, ta da da da da da da,...*

Then we decided to made him a wife! His wife a.k.a girlfriend is a skinny one. Skinny snow-woman.. HAHAH... I'm happy enough with the end result.

Tadaa!!!

I might sound a bit of '乡巴佬' a.k.a orang kampung, but we're just too excited about snowing!!! Malaysia is a tropical country that snow never arrives except fake snow!!

Have a nice week all!!
